ARCHITECTURE SLIDE 20

We aren't quite sure what to call these surfaces. But isn't this building interesting.

These shells are made of concrete. This is the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia.

Although original estimates called for five years and seven million dollars, the structure required sixteen years and more than one hundred million dollars. Meanwhile it caused so many bitter political arguments that its designer, Joern Utzon, resigned midway through construction and returned to his native Denmark.

It might have been worth it though, because this building made Sydney famous. Everyone thinks of Australia when they see it.
