Very early in the history of mathematics an interesting relationship was discovered.
It is said that the greeks made this discovery because of their facination with the circle.
| Here is how the story goes: The greeks believed the circle to be a magical mystical figure because of its perfect symetry and its relationship with the sun and moon and stars. They were so sure that this figure held magical, sacred power that they studied it extensively. They measured across it, and called this the DIAMETER. They measured around it, and called this the CIRCUMFERENCE. The REALLY NEAT THING was what happend when they compared the circumference to the diameter on ANY CIRCLE.
